Too small blazer & "replacement" bag

Ever bought a blazer that's too small, on purpose? I did. It's a petite size, and kinda sheeny/1990s, but I love the colour. I kindda like it fitted. With my second pair of skinny jeans bought for two pounds, and a simple tee, I think it looks pretty good.

I'm also showing off my "new" handbag found at an Oxfam shop for five pounds. It's a leather Kelly bag style, with this amazing hardware as you can see, and in really great shape (1980s, I'm guessing?). It will replace my vintage bags that have gone MIA (see posts below)! I'm also wearing my 2-pound vintage bracelet and vintage flower choker. Have a great day!

I buy too small always! They look better and I hardly ever button them anyways! Kind of a shrunken look.

    1. I know! I thought that when I saw your post the other day with the floral blazer! Maybe that unconsciously inspired this post! :)

  2. Hi!
There was a store when you were in Toronto that you always talked about in your blogs: Stretch Thrift Store? I want to go and check it out...what type of things will I find there?

    1. Tricia, they are donation-based so it's the luck of the draw, though I always found great stuff there. Just comb through the racks, and pay special attention to the jeans as you can often find a pair for $3.99-$6.99 (including high-end designer ones if you're lucky). If you go, check out Ontario Thrift a few blocks north at Pape and Gamble (on the opposite side) - their costume jewellery rocks. Between those two places I furnished my entire wardrobe and apartment, pretty much!

  3. I do not think the blazer is too small. I think too small is when a jacket/blouse pulls at the buttons and you get more to look at than you really want, especially over the bust area.
It looks great with the slim pants and the new purse. Hope that missing box turns up, but in the meantime you can have fun replacing what went missing. Peg on Vancouver Island

    1. Hi Peg, you're right - I should have mentioned that because it's a petite, the sleeves are too short - but I just roll them up, lol. :)

  4. Yes, it does look very good! It fits perfectly just like that!

I'm loving that style of structure purse. It makes me remember one like it I had and gave away, I'm a dummy.

  5. I agree the jacket doesn't look too small, just fitted and slimline, and very flattering! Great bag too, keep working on replacing the Lost Loves, and when you've ammassed a whole new collection, the ones that disappeared will no doubt reappear! xxx

    1. You're right - I guess what I meant is that a gal like me with long limbs/spider arms would not typically have thought to buy a petite size jacket ... but sometimes those 'wrong' sizes work out ok, don't they? :)

  6. It's not too small, it looks just right, fitted. I have a hard time with blazers as they gape across my boobs so I recently remedied it buy buying one with no buttons. Great bag too and I always love skinnies!

  9. Fab! Very chic and streamlined and way better for being fitted. That bag's lovely. I knew you'd build up a new collection in next to no time. x

  10. I have on occasion bought blazers too small. Sometimes they look great, and sometimes I think, "are you mad, woman?" Personally, I can get away with this, but only sometimes. Glad you're finding some great buys in the charity shops. The Oxfam near us is much more expensive than the one you've found. Some of the things are no more interesting than Primark and at about the same prices. (Boo hoo!)

    1. To be fair I was visiting Beaconsfield and I was surprised how inexpensive the charity shops were there as it is a chi chi place. The charity shops in the north west where I live, meanwhile, are full of Primark and are quite pricey for my blood!

  11. When you were in Toronto, did you ever go to the secondhand stores in Kensington Market? Can you tell me of some other places that you used to frequent?

    1. I found many of the shops in Kensington over- rated and too pricey. Courage my Love, practically an institution, is a great place to pick up an inexpensive 1960s or 70s frock. If you are looking for cocktail dresses, Exile Vintage is great.

  12. very smart chic! The blazer fits you perfectly, can't tell it's too small. I always prefer fitted blazer, they gives a better shape. I like how you teamed it with a casual outfit of T-shirt and skinnies. By the way, I am in love with your pixie hair cut, have I said this before...haha...it looks really chic!

    1. Thanks Mongs, you make me feel so happy as my hair is getting a bit long in this photo and I wasn't sure if it looked ok. I have had short hair forever - it is so super easy to care for.

    1. I am not offended at all. I think it's a hoot, actually, as I recently did a few posts on how I look like VB when I don't smile - kinda scary/funny. But it's still a compliment!
