Take me to the prom!
I've been rummaging through all the dresses that I kept and moved overseas with me - and unearthed these vintage 1970s (?) gem, found at a thrift shop in Toronto for $6.99 Canadian - reader, I've never worn it and it still had the thrift shop tag on it!
It's so pretty and feminine - a DEFINITE "take me to the prom" dress. The dress label says that it's from an old Toronto retailer/designer.
Don't think the shoes are the best match but my stash has gone down and I have limited options. The earrings are amber faceted danglies I've had since I was 14 - a few years before my prom even happened!

Thanks for commenting - you make my day! With bebe coming at the end of May, I'm sorry to say I won't be responding to each and every comment as I normally do - please know I will be posting when I can and reading all comments, and that I so value your readership. :)
Unfortunately due to excessive spam and almost going crazy moderating 50 comments an hour, I've had to turn on the dreaded word verification. Sorry guys.

I love that dress! It was long overdue being rediscovered
ReplyDeleteThanks, I can't believe it's been in my closet for years without my wearing it! :)
DeleteStunning dress. REally love the sleeves and neckline. Nothing wrong with the shoes in my opinion. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's so pretty isn't it? I guess the shoes make the look a bit more contemporary, don't they? Thanks for follow - right back at you! :)
DeleteThat is such a pretty dress, the shape and angel sleeves suggest 70s style, but the sheer top layer somehow says a later date to me... But what do I know?! I love the print, and I rather like the shoes with it, better than black, I reckon. You look very slim and most elegant! xxxxx
ReplyDeleteActually I thought 50s when I saw the sheer overlay. I should have shown you the tag as it looks older - you know the tags that have cursive script? When did they stop doing tags that way, I wonder? :)
DeleteWow! That's amazing that you've had those earrings for so long. I don't have anything with me from back in my teen years. My home was burglarized three times as a young person so ended up losing all my jewelry and anything my mom gave me. It's a wonder though how I still have the hat pin I posted about.
ReplyDeleteYou really look great in dresses!
Oh, that's such a shame! I actually have a few pair from grade 9 that I have saved - one pair has a royal blue glass faceted 'stone' - my twin sis, best friend and I used to swap wearing those earrings, and the ones pictured here, all the time when we were 14 - ah the memories! Crazy to be sentimental about a pair of earrings, but I am!! :)
DeleteBeautiful dress...i am glad you unearthed it. And unbelievable price. Who needs new things when you can look so good in thrifted!

My philosophy exactly Mongs! Plus you end up finding things that not every one is wearing.... :)
DeleteWhat a fab frock, it looks so pretty on you! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Vix! :)
DeleteI can see that beautiful dress on a warm summer's day with a beautiful floppy sun hat, sandals and a cold drink in hand as you sit in a hammock or lounge chair. Enjoy the dress, it looks terrific on your body.
ReplyDeletePeg
Peg, I like the way you think! :)
DeleteIt's LOVELY! You should wear it for every day... Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteYou don't think it's too dressy? I could funk it up .... :)
DeleteOhi love this dress! So pretty but not without the edge of a nice dark colour scheme. What a thrift find! Good one.
ReplyDeleteLoulou
Thanks Loulou, I will have to try to wear it!:)
DeleteThat dress is soo pretty on you. It definitely needs to go out to dinner on a patio, or for a cocktail in the afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI will tell hubby to take me and it out! :)
