More missing vintage bags

My blogging pals, we have been traveling this week so I've been unable to snap pics of my outfits. Now that we're home I shall put together some juicy ensembles to show you.

In the meantime, I'll do a part deux of the vintage handbags that have somehow gone MIA during my move from Toronto to Ottawa in Canada, and then overseas to the UK. This was my FAVE carpet bag, Missoni-esque in look, in perfect condition, 1960s or 70s- bought for $60 (not a Grunge Queen price) a few years ago at the Toronto Vintage Costume Jewellery Club's show & sale. It is just such a beaut.

A great 1970s clutch and another member of the missing handbag club. I bought this for less than $20 CAD, if memory serves, in Toronto a few years ago.

I snagged this super soft leather bag last fall at a vintage store in Toronto, and I wore it a lot. It is also in the missing box. I think that's it for the missing handbags, but it's amazing how quickly you forget. Every time I see an old pic on this blog or in my files, I think, "Ahha! That one is missing too!". Hopefully they're residing safely in my Mom's basement. Will keep you posted.

  2. Poor lost little handbags. I hope they're at least behaving themselves!
I just love that top one. There's something about tiny pinstripes in multi color that's so great.
I would love a pair of oxfords the color of that buttery soft purse.
    Have a great weekend!

    1. I hope they're having a darn good time, wherever they are. The top one is my fave too. Buttery - delicious word and way to describe that leather! :)

  6. Oh no, hopefully they are not forever lost, merely temporarily mislaid. Leather bags like the last one are such a great staple.

  7. Now you know, I thought that exactly: first bag are the wallpapers or curtains, second is the carpet, last is the leather chair.
The first one is my favorite. I've a bag which I don't know whether it is vintage or not, but have been told it's handmade but I think you might find it interesting: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6029/6199131700_7b194bbea6_z.jpg
In fact I've a second one, a fanny pack, with an elephant embroidered the same way.
Though my favorite are faux-leather backpacks, I love all the different colors and ways to close them! (in fact you could say that about any kind of bag... but they are my thing)

    1. That's a cute way of describing my little collection! I like your fanny pack - not sure of its era but it reminds me of the 1990s (guess that's when fanny packs were all the rage, but they have made a comeback, haven't they?). Funny, I have never worn backpacks ... :)

  8. My heart aches for your missing bags (yes, that leather one...oh my!). I would be burning up the phone lines until my mom prowled that basement for me. Sure hope they turn up.

    1. Thanks, Nan, it would be horrid if they were moldering away in a box! :)

  9. Stepping out of Lurker mode to say I'm praying for the safe return of your treasured handbags. I know from experience how traumatic it can be to have something you love suddenly go missing. :-( Most of my MIA items are now safe at home with me now (we found them in the bathtub of my grandparents' travel trailer of all places!), so here's hoping your handbags' story will have the same happy ending!

    Prayers,

Thanks for commenting - you make my day! With bebe coming at the end of May, I'm sorry to say I won't be responding to each and every comment as I normally do - please know I will be posting when I can and reading all comments, and that I so value your readership. :)

Unfortunately due to excessive spam and almost going crazy moderating 50 comments an hour, I've had to turn on the dreaded word verification. Sorry guys.
