A new chapter begins, my thrifting friends

Dah-lings, it's been ages. Here I am at a party pour moi, with my dear pal Nadia, wearing my M. Kors booties (look how big my feet are compared to hers!), a 1970s vintage skirt, my vintage fur coat (it's the warmest thing I have), thrifted 1970s shades and vintage beret made in England that I nabbed off Nadia when we had our pop-up shop. Nadia in turn is wearing thrifted booties and I coat I have her, which I had thrifted.

We're celebrating. As you may have guessed from my lack of posts these past few months (and my sincerest apologies for those of you who visit regularly to find nothing new), things have been rather crazy for me. It will be a sad moment, yet for the happiest of occasions, that will see me leaving Toronto tomorrow after starting a wonderful new life here 6.5 years ago: I have left the new dream job I started a few months ago, I have left my apartment, I have gotten rid of all my stuff, and as of tomorrow, I will leave Toronto behind, to marry my dear British man and move to be with him in the UK! (The vintage Danish pewter pendant I am wearing here is a wedding gift from a dear person at the Toronto Vintage Costume Jewellery Club).

Here's my gorg Brit mannnie - dear reader, he is truly the most wonderful of men, and I look forward to starting a new life with him, in Jolly Old England!! I am not sure what this blog will turn into, or even if I will keep it up; I'm afraid I won't know until my journey in England begins. I have a feeling there are good vintage deals to be had at the car boot sales! Please check in from time to time. I appreciate your readership over the years. All the best to you in the meantime!!

  1. Congratulations!! Also, Bon Voyage! And Welcome!

I hope you manage to keep your blog going when you get here (to the UK), although I think you'll be hard pressed to find the goodies here in quantity and at a price that's right. I'm willing to be proven wrong though and wait with baited breath :D

I hope you still find things to blog about. I've mentioned it before but it's still true, your blog is on my top list of blogs I love to see posts from.

*We'll be sharing an island, it seems. I'm up North in a snowy (as I type) Scotland*

  6. I had to read this post twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
Congratulations to you and your lovely British man.
This is a huge step, commitment, and all in a different country. LOVE is wonderful and that is all that is required to make it work. I so look forward to seeing some post later on but right now you have things to do and I'm sure you will have some jet lag.
I have followed your blog post for some time and haven't always had the time to respond but right now I'm over joyed that you will become husband and wife.
Congratulations again and wishing you both a very merry Christmas.

  7. Congratulations! It is too bad that we did not get to meet when you where visiting family and I suspect that you will not be in this neck of the woods for a while. I love England (although I have only visited twice) and I am sure that you will find much to love beyond your lucky man! You have much creativity to share so I hope that you keep blogging.

  14. Thanks so much for your dear comments, my friends, I appreciate each and every word. I am in Ottawa at present preparing for the wedding and won't be hitting England until the New Year>

Silver Thistle - my man is in the north now, very close to Scotland, though we will be moving south closer to London. Thank you for being such a dedicated reader; it warms my heart to know that! I follow some Brit blogs and the vintage pickings look good - and I think my man said he'd take me to a "car boot" sale, though I bet he regrets saying that now!!

    Laura, thank you!!

Chica. thank you - and I hope this blog will morph into something once I am in the UK so please do feel free to hang out Chez Grunge Queen!

Thanks Erica Louise! I have divested myself of so much stuff that it feels good, but I'm really excited to see what England vintage looks like!

Thanks, Vix! My man is in St Annes by the Sea in the north but we plan on moving to/near London. I have a feeling you're in the south??

The Witch, thank you for your kind words, and for being a dedicated follower. I too have visited your blog and not left comments (but I did see the completion of your amazing gazebo!); sometimes it's just nice to drop in for a quick look-see. I hope you and yours have a lovely holiday, and all the ebst to you in the New Year and beyond!

Jenifir, I am in Ottawa until January the Visa comes in! It's pretty crazy now as the wedding is two weeks away, but maybe post-Christmas we can always meet up. I have this feeling you're in Westboro, or am I dreaming?

Thrifted Treasure, thank you - my blogging twin! I will for SURE post pics! My dress wasn't second-hand but it was under $200 and it's GORG!

Thanks Six Balloons, I am sure I will update you, how could I not?

Anonymous, I wish I knew your name as I am so touched you have been a faithful follower. I have some bling that I will post soon!

    Ella from Texas, thank you!

Thank you Kris. I haven't visited you in so long, I will pop over once things die down.

My dear Cath, thank you sweetheart. I miss you already!

  17. As all the others have already said, congratulations and every good wish for much happiness ahead!

I'm another long time reader who has greatly enjoyed your blog, although I've never said so.

Enjoy your wedding and international thrifting. I'll hold up your end at Stretch Thrift, also a great favourite of mine. (smiling)
