Crochet & vintage 70s necklace to match

Remember these crochet sweaters? Crochet was big in the 70s, of course, but I remember having a bunch of crochet cardis in the 90s. Well they're back. This glittery turquoise bolero style cardi was sort of granny-anny crossed with a boho vibe, so I picked it up on sale.

It goes perfectly with my new bling, a 1970s pendant and necklace.

I love the shape, the heavy chain, the colour - its semi rough hewn look. It reminds me a bit of the 70s jewellery designer Raphael. Perfect for Spring-a-ding-ding!

  1. I think I have mixed feelings about crochet being back! I can appreciate its beauty and the delicate details, but I think I prefer it as a throw for the couch, rather than a cardigan!

  2. Did I miss something;) I guess I didn't realize they were out. Seems like they've been around in one way or another for so many years. Love the color and your necklace is wonderful.

  3. Six Balloons, I kind of did too until I saw this - actually even though I love it I still think it has this granny vibe! It is odd but I seem to be going for pieces that give me mixed feelings these days - what the heck does that mean??

  4. Hi Betsy, I don't know if it's ever really been out, out, if you know what I mean, but I do think crochet has peaked and then ebbed in popularity in a cyclical sort of way. I remember there being a lot of crochet vests and cardis in the 90s, and they're quite big now with the whole 70s influence. Thanks, I love this necklace too - have never really done a ton of turquoise but it has been calling to me these days ....
