Jeepers, creepers, where'd ya get those ....?

I've been told my peepers are, well, rather nice. That may be so. But, after a trip to the eye doctor prompted by headaches and rather debilitating eye pain, it's been discovered that not only has my prescription changed (for the better - one of the ironic things about aging is your eyes often DO get closer to 20/20) - but my eyes also require bi-focals AND I have the beginnings of cateracts.

Oh joy.

What this means: new eyewear. Every day glasses, sunglasses, contacts too. More expensive with the bi-focals (progressives, thank you very much, no granny line on the lens for me). No insurance. Almost poverty level writer's salary. Yippee. Hello Visa.

Alas, I can't and refuse to cheap out on my eyeballs. One of the few things were the "cheap is chic" adage most emphatically does not apply! (Ok, so I'm saving on the frames by putting new lenses in my existing frames - there's a wee bit of Grunge Queen verve for you).

  2. Take great care of your eyes. I'm sure you will find the coolest frames ever. And you could never look like a granny - bifocals or not.

  3. I feel your pain, I have worn glasses since I was a kid. I'm sure you'll look fab with the new glasses!

  4. I agree with everyone! You'll look great no matter what, and it's very smart to take good care of your eyes! Now, and just because I turned 40 last year, I have decided that reading glasses are sexy, and that's that.

You might like to check out www.clearlycontacts.ca our family uses it all the time for glasses and contacts and I have to say this: we 'Adorons' them with a capital 'A'! Let me know if you have any questions about how it works, we just placed an order for our oldest daughter and she ended up with two pairs of very groovy glasses and contacts lenses for just over $200, I'm pretty sure that's unbeatable. Thought I'd let you know in case you want another option! Have a good day, G-Q, and remember: eyewear is sexy, baby!

  5. Nelly - I hear ya! I hate myself in glasses! The only consolation I have is when my cataracts get full blown, then I can get surgery to replace the lenses (for free) and essentially have perfect eyes again, glasses free! Only question is: how long will it take for my cataracts to fully develop? Mmmmm.

Kris you are sweet. I have frames that are 'ok' now but U don't feel attractive in them. Guess I better get used to 'em!

Six Balloons, I've worn em since grade 5 thought to be fair, I switched to contacts in grade 9 - but they just hurt my old eyes now!

Veronica, sweet words, thanks, and good suggestion; I will check out what you suggest! And I shall try to embrace the sexy eyewear philosophy!
