I cannot tell a lie
Part of yesterday's holiday drop-in event for my gal pals entailed selling off some of my bling and accessories, as you can see from the above.
Don't hate me. I have explored the idea of having a public sales event for lovely readers like you, and even asked you, some time ago, to email me if you were interested in attending such a sale. A few people responded, but after not selling as much as I had hoped yesterday, I'm wondering if such a sale would be fruitful for me, and useful for you.
In truth, I have a lot - A LOT - of stuff that I will be selling off, either in one fell swoop or in little dribs and drabs (the latter isn't my most preferable mode) - everything from jewellery, clothes, fashion and decor accessories, and furniture. I had thought of having a personal sale in my pad, but in order to get rid of the volume I am intending to I'm not sure my place could support the masses of people - many strangers - I would need to attract to the sale.
Any ideas for getting rid of the lot, or have you tried a worthwhile technique? And as a fellow second-hand style lover, if you were interested in taking a gander at some of my goodies and buying for good deals, what sort of selling method or venture would appeal to you? (online, personal sale, etc?). Any feedback you have would be appreciated.

Maybe you could sell them on Etsy? Seems to work for a lot of people!
ReplyDeleteI was going to sugest Etsy too. If most of your stuff is vintage it is a cheap and easy way to do it. I have a shop with them and it is pretty low maintenece and costs next to nothing to run it.
ReplyDeletemaybe you could list on here and sell via paypal, too? although as the others said the etsy bit kind of runs itself. girl you do have a pile of goodies there!
ReplyDeletexo,

Thrifted Treasure, I have thought of Etsy, though I have so much new stuff too and I think Etsy is only for handmade and/or vintage, am I right?
ReplyDeleteMmm KibbyGirl I may pick your brain about Etsy. I have thought about it but would love to hear about peoples' experience with that. Have you had any experience selling in other ways - Craigslist or Ebay??
ReplyDeletethis free bird/Carrie, thrilled you've visited, I'm a huge (new) fan of your lovely blog! I had never thought of selling through this site; that could be an option and also link to Etsy through here, as I've seen other bloggers do. Alas, what you see in the pics is only a fraction of what I'm planning on divesting myself of!!
ReplyDeleteI have sold on ebay but I don't like the time limits as much. With Etsy you have your listing for 4 months. It is just for handmade or vintage though. I think there are other Etsy type places and one that is Toronto based, but I can't remember the name :( Some might be more flexible with the new stuff.
ReplyDeleteYou could try Etsy. I'm sure your jewelry would go fast. I have a shop in Etsy and I find my biggest handicap is Canada Post, shipping is crazy for the U.S (or for Vancouver for that matter).
ReplyDeleteOr you could feature a couple of items each week and ask your readers if they are interested to buy them. By the way do you have any barware? I,m interested in shakers, glasses, cocktail napkins etc. You can write be and send pics @ valerie.barbeau@gmail.com. See ya!
kibbygirl, thanks for info - I will look for that Toronto site.
ReplyDeleteVonlipi, good feedback. I am going to look into Etsy, though so much of my stuff isn't vintage. Sorry, U really don't have any barware. Gee, aside from the wine glasses I featured in the post above, that's one thing I don't buy!! Bye for now!
ReplyDeletei would get a table at the clothing show in the spring.. it's a bit pricey but if you can find another gal to share with, then it's 1/2 price.
ReplyDeleteworth a shot
Diana, that's a thought - but the Clothing Show is all vintage, isn't it? The issue is I have a lot of stuff that's both vintage and non-vintage....
ReplyDeleteBTW I am crushed I missed your event on Sunday; I was so unwell. Is the you-know-what still available? I still want to give you the Owl pendant so let's meet up soon! xo
