It's a simple thing, but sometimes it's the simplest of things that can bring the most satisfaction.A shopkeeper gave me this rose as I was doing a shopping column last week. I didn't have a bud vase to put it in, so I plopped it in this glass when I got home.
As the rose got older I kept cutting down the stem, so that it eventually fell below the lip of the glass.
I love the way the rose looks like a living artifact, behind glass yet with life not extinguished.
...a touch of elegance, I say :)

I love it that you're keeping it as long as possible. I do the same, as long as there's any life or colour. I even float blooms in bowls when they fall off my hanging plants outside...life is life, beautiful and precious!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love one flower by itself. You seem to recognize it's individuality that is lost in a bouquet. Cheers CM aka Lefty
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy, it was one of those one-the-fly creative moments I so love!
ReplyDeleteLefty, what a lovely thought you have put out there! Thank you for leaving a comment; you are so so right in what you say -- sometimes less is so much more!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, I do the same thing!! When the roses start drooping I snip off the stems and toss 'em in a rose bowl -- in fact I prefer my roses in rose bowls: they remind me of the 1970s when I was growing up!
