Giant Tiger rocks

So I found myself visiting the folks in the middle of a heat wave, with nary a summer outfit to be had in my suitcase.

A trip to the local Giant Tiger solved my wardrobe blues.

I love GT Boutique. Every time I come home I go there. There are a few in the Toronto area but none are central enough for me. So it's my little vacay treat!

Though the fashions are inexpensive and good quality, I always troll the clearance rack.

These cotton stretch yoga pants - a bit short but I thought they looked kinda retro cool that way - were three bucks on sale. So was the turq cami, and the 100% cotton cardi by Point Zero? A fiver. The sandals were $6.97.

Total outfit: $17.97.

This blue boho top was $7.97, so I threw it onto the pile. It will look great with everything from jeans to white summer pants.

Giant Tiger is a Canadian company, which I love, with a real community focus. Most of its stores are in smaller towns and villages - a smart plan in my view as they become ingrained in the community.

GT carries everything from fashions to decor and housewares to grocery (my Dad swears it's the cheapest place to buy milk).

I'll miss it, but I've had my GT fix for the moment and got some cute summer togs out of it too!

Hopefully the warm weather is here to stay!

  1. Hi Kelly..thats too funny...whenever I'm in Perth visiting my mom..I too, succumb to the lure of the Giant Tiger. Where else can you buy your outfit, kitty litter, those aluminum stove protector thingies, and 10 year old cds and dvds? (my mom also buys her milk there)
I also find it great for the yearly cheap cottage bathing suit and water shoes come summer!

  2. I love the GT boutique too! Usually pop in once a week as there is one near where I work. There is one in Mississauga which is totally huge, in a former Food Basics I think. With summer coming up, look out for deals in patio stuff and solar lights.

  3. The local GT opened just under 2 yrs ago and I think ALL the staff know me by name now LOL It's a fabulous "last minute" grocery place and the fashions are great for those who like to keep up with the trends, but not the price tags! Thanks for the write up - enjoyed it : )

  4. I so love GT too! It's true that there aren't many in and around TO, but whenever I visit my family up in Sudbury, I hit up the huge store they have up there and go on a little shopping spree! It always makes me smile when people comment on my outfit and ask where I got it - a little creativity and a few dollars can go a long way over there! So glad I stumbled upon your blog - it's great! :-)

  5. Ladies, you are all so right!! Giant Tiger Tweeted me after I posted this, btw, thanking me for the post. I just Tweeted them today asking if they wold ever open a central TO location! All us city folk would be going to them in droves!

BlackRose/Kelly, Perth is one of my fave towns and I have BEEN to the GT there - while on a date if you can believe it!

Chris I wish I had the verve to visit the GT in your neck of the woods!

Melissa, you are so right about the trends pricetag thing. My 13 yr old niece and I joke that we make a beeline for the clearance rack and we joke that "$10 is too expensive for GT Boutique" for a tee or something!

Sylvie, so glad you discovered GQ and great to discover another TO blogger - will check you out! I hear you on the shopping spree: GT is always one of the first places I want to visit when I'm back home!
